Music Player Appliance is based on MusicPD, a music player daemon that has a number of interfaces: http://www.musicpd.org/

The rAA plugin to configure MusicPD is a Mercurial repository at: http://gerla.net/hg/raa-plugin-mpd/

The Music Player Appliance does not include MP3 support because MP3 is a patent-encumbered format with redistribution restrictions. I will try to concoct some method by which mp3 support can be added to the appliance without me (or rPath) doing the distributing.

TODO:

  • Switch to using lighttpd+php instead of Apache
  • Music location rAA plugin with support to configure:
    • local storage
    • smbfs mount
    • nfs mount
  • zeroconf?
