Appliance Administration --> Manage Services

The rPath Appliance Platform Agent (rAPA) includes a Manage Services task which is enabled by default. In this task, a rAPA user can manage services running on the appliance. Services are software that runs on the underlying operating system, in the background of the main applications, to carry out essential tasks to support those main applications.

Use the following steps to manage services:

  1. Access and log in to the rPath Appliance Platform Agent web interface.
  2. Click Manage Services from the rAPA menu at the left.
  3. Use the available options as follows to manage each service in the list:
    1. Click the button in the Start column to immediately start the corresponding service.
    2. Click the button in the Stop column to immediately stop the corresponding service.
    3. Click the button in the Restart column to immediately restart (stop, then start) the corresponding service.
    4. Toggle the Start on Boot check box to determine whether the service starts when the appliance boots.
  4. Use the calendar icon corresponding to a service to schedule a service, and choose the date and time with the calendar wizard.
   Stopping and restarting some of these services could cause the web interface or other appliance features to be inaccessible. Before taking action to stop or restart a service, be sure you know how it will affect the appliance.
