The rPath Appliance Platform Agent (rAPA) includes a Root Password task which is not enabled by default. In this task, a rAPA user can change the password for the root user of the Linux system on which the appliance is based.

Use the following steps to change the root user password:

  1. Access and log in to the rPath Appliance Platform Agent web interface.
  2. Click Configuration from the rAPA menu at the left.
  3. Click Root Password from the expanded menu.
  4. Type the new password in the New password and Confirm password text boxes.
  5. Click Save to save, or navigate away from the task to cancel.
