Conary --> Packaging --> Build Environment

Conary packaging requires an environment in which to develop packages and groups. This environment is most often referred to as the build environment, and it consists of the following:

  1. Repository Access: A Conary-based system with network access to the Conary repositories where the packaged software is stored and distributed
  2. Development Tools: Conary development tools installed on the Conary-based system, which are packaged and made available in distribution project repositories (such as group-devel provided by rPath and Foresight Linux)
  3. Project Directories: A directory structure on the Conary-based system, used to organize the package recipes and related files and to execute the Conary cvc commands
  4. Contexts: Context entries in Conary configuration used to set each context (an association between the build environment and a Conary repository)
