Question: How can I maintain the software on a Conary-based system?

Answer: If the Conary-based system is an appliance, use the appliance administration guide that makes use of the rPath Appliance Platform Agent for keeping the appliance up-to-date. For desktop distributions and other Conary-based systems in which command line maintenance is the main form of administration, use the following commands. Each command is linked to a page with syntax, options, and other usage information:

  • Use conary update to install, update, or downgrade software.
  • Use conary updateall to update the top-level groups and any additional troves on a system.
  • Use conary remove to remove a file from a system an ensure that it is not reinstalled during typical Conary updates of the trove that maintains the file.
  • Use conary erase to uninstall software.
  • Use conary rollback to reverse conary update or conary updateall commands, rolling system software back to a previous state.
  • Use conary rblist to list the available rollbacks and the details of what changed during each Conary update.
