Using the rPath Wiki Forums

You can discuss rPath technologies and community projects with others in this wiki's Forums. This feature is available to all users of the rPath Wiki; you do not need a user account to participate in forum discussions.

This guide describes basic usage of the major discussion forum functionality, from creating a new topic instance, to commenting on an existing topic.

Posting a Reply to Existing Comments

To post a reply to an existing comment in a manner similar to threaded discussion, follow these steps:

  1. Access the forum topic containing the comment you wish to reply to
  2. Click the [edit] link above the comment you wish to reply to
  3. Use a bullet in the proper depth level to indicate your reply, and sign your comment by adding four tilde characters (~~~~) to the end of your comment.
    For example, if the forum conversation resembles the following:
This forum system is handy! <- Original comment
* It certainly is Someuser 10:31, 14 June 2006

You can reply to the original comment by inserting a new line with bullet:

This forum system is handy! <- Original comment
* It certainly is Someuser 10:31, 14 June 2006        <- A reply
* Your example comment You 10:31, 14 June 2006        <- Your reply

Someone could then reply to your reply by increasing the depth of the bulleted list, as such:

This forum system is handy! <- Original comment
* It certainly is Someuser 10:31, 14 June 2006        <- A reply
* Your example comment You 10:35, 14 June 2006        <- Your reply
** Welcome to the forum, '''You'''! You 10:42, 14 June 2006 <- A reply to your reply

Searching Forums

Since the forums are simply special wiki articles residing in their own namespaces, you may use the search tool at left to search the discussions just as you would search for any other wiki page.
