Talk:HP SmartArray P800 SAS RAID Controller support
From rPath Wiki
I'm trying to install the HP SmartArray P400 SAS RAID Controller (Proliant DL320s) management tools onto an Openfiler appliance running on rPath, but the system is returning a whole bunch of errors. I have asked the Openfiler forum and developers for help, but they are unable to help me and suggested to try here. Below I have pasted the discussion taken from the Openfiler forum. Maybe somebody can help me and suggest what to do to make this work?
Thanks Patrick
- Patrick, Could you post a link to the forum discussion itself instead of the thread? This will allow us to see the thread without the wiki trying to parse syntax on it. Just post your response where I have provided below...and link us to the URL to the forum thread. --DerrickDevine 17:00, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

- I looked around a bit and found this page: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/family/model/6255.html which contains the rpms you would download for this RAID Controller. I then went into the ftp site where the download came from and looked for an SRPM (source rpm) that we could work with. It seems that HP does not want to release a SRPM and only has rpms available. In order for us to properly get this onto a Linux distribution, you need to be able to A) have the rpm built already or B) have the SRPM or source tarball available so that you can build the package. I don't see a way to get these tools onto a linux distribution that isn't supported by HP without finding the software source. --DerrickDevine 11:17, 5 September 2007 (EDT)
