rBuilder:Builds

From rPath Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

A build in rBuilder refers to image builds used to create releases of your appliance product. The build could be one of several build types, including an installable CD or DVD or a fully installed hard drive image. Depending on the build type, there are other configuration details that must be defined when creating the build.

A build is created from a cooked group which references all necessary troves for the software appliance. A single group could be used to create several different builds, and the builds can be grouped together as needed to create releases.

Developers and project owners on an rBuilder project can create builds from groups in that project. Project owners can subsequently add builds to new or existing releases.

Developers and project owners can also edit, recreate, and delete builds as necessary from the project's Builds page. A build cannot be modified if it is included in a published release, but a project owner can unpublish a release if modifications are necessary.

Image:Bulbgraph.png   Please note that unicode is disabled in all build types at this time. This is due to values that are passed to Conary. Unicode data passed into jobslaves (such as project description, etc) that has unicode data present will have the unicode data removed. The removal only affects the metadata (such as build name or description) associated with builds produced from rBuilder.
