For each virtualization format, these rPath technologies automatically include the components necessary for optimum performance. Virtual appliance images generated by rBuilder are ready to be launched as virtual machines as soon as they are downloaded.

Application to Appliance: A Hands-on Guide provides instructions for developing appliances using the Application to Appliance Development Image available at rBuilder Online. Though it makes use of VMware as a development environment and in its example, the process applies to the development of all virtual appliances.
