The rBuilder Catalog for EC2™ is a tool that enables point and click management (display, launch, management, and shutdown) of Amazon Machine Images.

Getting Started with rBuilder Catalog for EC2™
- Login to rBuilder.
- Click on rBuilder Catalog for EC2™ in the User Pane.
- If you have not done so, you will be prompted to "click here to setup your credentials"
- Enter your Account Number
- Enter your Access Key ID
- Enter your Secret Access Key
| Certain browsers may add on white space to EC2 credentials. Please be advised that if your connection fails, you may need to re-enter your credentials and removing the trailing space. |
General Information
- You may resize any column and each section at any time by click dragging column/section size larger or smaller.
- You may click and drag images into the LIBRARY folder.
- Clicking column names will sort the view that column.
- Public AMIs are shown with a user & world icon, private AMIs do not have this icon present.
- Clicking any image will select that image.
- You may edit or remove your rBuilder Catalog for EC2 credentials at any time by Editing your profile.
- Actions may be performed upon a selected image. Actions are dependent upon the view and selection as some actions may not be performed in certain views.
Actions that may be performed are:
- Launch -- An AMI (Amazon Machine Image) must be selected for the Launch button to be accessible. Launches the AMI selected.
- Shutdown -- An AMI must be selected for the Shutdown button to be accessible. Shuts the AMI selected down.
- Info -- An AMI must be selected for the Info button to be accessible.
- Remove -- This button will remove an AMI that you have placed inside your LIBRARY Folder.
- Manage -- An AMI must be selected for the Manage button to be accessible. This launches a new tab that connects to the rPath Appliance Platform Agent for managing the AMI.
- Refresh -- Click the refresh button to refresh the AMI List of the category you are viewing.
- Search -- Type the AMI Number, short name, or search term in the box and rBuilder Catalog will begin immediately searching for results in the current view.
rBuilder Catalog for EC2™ Sections
CATALOG
- This is the default view displayed and lists all AMI's associated is a listing of all AMI's associated with your EC2 credentials.
- Click on Appliances I Own to see those AMI's from Products you own.
- Click on Appliances I Develop to see AMI's from Products you develop.
- Click on Appliances I Use to see those AMI's from Products of which you are a user.
- Highlight any AMI inside the CATALOG and click the "Launch" button to launch the AMI into the Amazon EC2™.
LIBRARY
- This section is used to house those AMI's you drag and drop into it.
- Click to highlight the AMI you wish to move to your Library.
- Drag and drop the AMI into the library folder.
- Verify that the AMI is now stored and tracked inside your Library folder by selecting it.
RUNNING
- "Now Running" displays those AMI's that are currently running.
rBuilder Catalog for EC2™ Actions
Launching an AMI
- Select any subcategory in the CATALOG section.
- Highlight the AMI you would like to launch.
- Click the "Launch" button on the top right hand corner of rBuilder Catalog.
- A pop up dialog will request information that the AMI needs in order to run. Fill in this information accordingly and click "Ok". The AMI will display no message if successful. If unsuccessful, a status message will be displayed with the corresponding error.
Shutting an AMI Down
- Go to RUNNING >> Now Running.
- Highlight the AMI you wish to shutdown.
- Click the "Shutdown" button.
- Click "OK" to shutdown or "Cancel" to cancel this action.
Get AMI Information
- Highlight the AMI of which you wish to retrieve information
- Click the Info button.
- a pop-up dialog will display information about the AMI
- Click Done to close the pop-up window
Manage AMI Information
- Highlight the AMI of which you wish to manage.
- Click the "Manage" button.
- A new tab will open for you to manage your deployed AMI. Please make sure that a browser pop-up blocker does not stop this from occuring.
- Close the tab to go back to rBuilder Catalog for EC2™.
