rBuilder Online:Cook a Group

rBuilder Online --> Groups --> Group Builder --> Cook a Group

After an rBuilder product contains a group recipe (whether created manually or using Group Builder), the next step is to cook the group.

Cooking the group is the process rBuilder takes to turn the list of packages contained in the group recipe into a binary group, also called a cooked group. Conary can then use this cooked group as a guide to create builds.

Use the following steps to cook a group in the rBuilder web interface:

  1. Make the group the current group.
  2. Click Cook This Group on the group's Edit Group page or on the Group Builder panel.
  3. On the Cooking Group: Choose An Architecture page, choose which flavors to apply to this group cook. Multiple group cooks can be done to build the appliance for different flavor selections. Use rBuilder Online:Flavor a Group to read the description of each available choice.
  4. Click Cook This Group.
  5. Monitor the status of the cooking in the Request Status portion of the Cooking Your Group page.
  6. Verify the status bar changes to green with Status: Finished when the group finishes cooking. If there are errors, the status bar should indicate where those errors occured. More information about these errors can be found in the Conary documentation.
  7. Click Builds from the Product Resources panel to begin creating a build based on this cooked group.
