rBuilder Online:Create a Build

From rPath Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Developers and project owners on an rBuilder project can create one or more builds from a cooked group. Builds are only available to members on a project, but a project owner can choose to add the build to a new or existing release and make it available to all users.

Use the following steps to create a new build.

  1. Navigate to the rBuilder project.
  2. Click Manage Builds from the Project Resources panel.
  3. Click Create a new build.
  4. Type a name and description for this build. Choose a name that uniquely identifies this build from other builds that have been created for this project, either from the same or different groups.
  5. In the Build Contents section, select each of the following in turn, allowing rBuilder to process each selection before offering the next. Verify that your selections are displayed in the Build Contents section.
    1. Name of the cooked group
    2. The label
    3. The version
    4. The flavor
  6. Select a build type for the build.
  7. Expand the Advanced Options section to complete build-type-specific information. See the corresponding build type information for instructions on these form fields.
  8. Click Create Build.
  9. Monitor the blue Status box as rBuilder creates the build. If there is an error, the box will shade red and display the point of error.
  10. When the Status is green and says Finished, verify the links for the available downloads for the build are displayed and a What are these files? expandable section offers a brief explanation of the files created.
  11. Click Builds to return to the builds page if necessary.

After the build is created, use its view link on the project's Builds page to read information such as the version, build type, and who built it. You can also download the build using the link provided on this information page.

You can modify the build later provided if the build is not included in a published release. Links to Edit Build and Recreate Build are provided on a build's information page, and the Builds page provides delete links for each build that can be modified. A project owner can unpublish a release if necessary to allow modifications on a build.
