rBuilder Online:Package Creator
From rPath Wiki
Package Creator is a new package building technology developed by rPath that allows the creation of Conary packages from binary RPMs and tarballs. Packaging becomes as easy as uploading a file through your web browser. Upload a binary archive or rpm and Package Creator will create a Conary package that can be installed onto any conary based system.
Using Package Creator
To use Package Creator, you must first have commit access to an rBuilder repository and be logged in. You must also have a product version defined for the product you are creating the package for. Once these steps have been accomplished:
Step 1
- Click on Create Package in the "Product Resources" navigation box on the left side of the rBuilder Online front page
- If you have not defined a product version and are the product owner, rBuilder will prompt you to complete the product version information. If you are not the product owner you will not be able to continue until the owner of the product you work on has defined a product version. Contact the product owner for further assistance.
| Depending on the size of the binary archive and the server load of rBuilder Online, the upload and build portion of Package Creator (steps 2 and 3) may take an extended period of time. |
Step 2
- Click on the Browse button and select the binary archive to be uploaded. Use the drop down menu to select a product version that this package will be marked for.
Step 3
- Package Creator has selected a list of possible package type(s) to use with the archive that you uploaded, and has gathered as much information from it as possible. Please confirm the correct package type, and verify the information displayed. Double check these values to ensure they are correct. When you are satisfied with the information, click Create Package. The process is finished when the message Build finished, package committed. is displayed.
