rBuilder Online:Product Owner

Users can read, download from, and watch a product without becoming a member. Membership is required to conduct package and appliance building activities in the product. rBuilder Online has two roles for members of a product: product owner and developer.

An rBuilder Online product member who is a product owner can do the following tasks.

• Add and remove product members
• Handle membership requests from rBuilder users
• Promote and demote product members
• All appliance building activities in the product
• Manage releases

Taking on product Owner Status

An rBuilder user can become a product owner in one of the following ways:

• The member is a developer who is promoted to product owner by another product owner
• The rBuilder user is added as a product owner by another product owner
• The rBuilder user requests membership on a product and the approving product owner makes the user a product owner

A product must have at least one product owner in order to have other members (product owners or developers).

Resigning as a product Owner

A product owner can resign a product provided one of the following conditions apply:

• Another product owner exists
• Another member is promoted to product owner (Promote and Demote Members)
• The product owner is the last member to leave the product (Orphans and Adopting)

If all members have abandoned a product (product owners and developers), it is considered an orphaned product and can be adopted by another user. The adopting user will immediately become a product owner for the product.
