The most basic operating system components for rPath Linux are in group-core.
Prior to group-appliance, appliance developers included group-core from conary.rpath.com@rpl:1 to provide the minimal operating system needed to boot a system and use conary for package management. With group appliance, developers can use the ApplianceGroupRecipe superclass and call the addAppliancePlatform() function, which creates a group-core for the appliance that has components from both the rPL group-core and from group-appliance-platform.
