rPathLinux Talk:Xwindows on VMPlayer from rPath Linux to XP Windows Xserver
From rPath Wiki
Hello all,
I would be able to do Linux on my Compaq running OEM XP. At the moment, it is not possible for me to put Linux on this laptop so running Linux in VMPlayer is an idea solution.
I would like to run linux X clients on the Linux in the virtual machine, and access them from an Xserver running on the XP box. I would probably use Cygwin Xserver facilities, and then maybe co-mingle them with Cygnus clients..
But I cannot get the Xclients on the rPath Linux in the VMPlayer to contact the Xserver running on XP to create windows using Cygnus.
The error was "Host not reachable"
Any assistance would be most appreciated as I believe that this is a highly valid solution to the security and performance problems forced on users by the laptop industry, as well as Microsoft.
Thank you in advance, John
