rPath Appliance Platform --> Entitlement Service
The rPath™ Appliance Platform Entitlement Service provides the infrastructure for authenticating appliances with entitlement keys. Appliances can be configured to require entitlement keys for access to updates from an upstream Conary repository. The Entitlement Service upstream from each appliance uses these keys to authenticate each appliance and determine what updates it is allowed to receive.

The Entitlement Service associated with an appliance product is comprised of the following:

  • Entitlement Service appliances used to authenticate it for updates
  • An entitlements file used to associate the appliance with the upstream Entitlement Service product channel (Read more.)
  • The Entitlements plugin in the rPath Appliance Platform Agent, enabled by the presence of the entitlements file (Read more.)
